The following story, which appeared in the Carbondale Daily News on August 26, 1913, describes a haunting at the Sauers home in Westmoreland County. According to the sister of Mrs. Sauers, the alleged ghost appeared on Sunday and Thursday nights for a period of several months. How the ghost kept himself occupied on the other days of the week, however, is still a mystery.
